Solid NACL (common salt chlorine) does not conduct electricity but when dissolved in water it conducts electricity it conducts electricity.Why ??? For class 8

Solid NaCl does not conduct electricity . But when water is added to it , it conducts electricity . Why ?

Answer :-
➡ Solid NaCl is only a molecule and does not consist of any free ions.
➡We know that free ions are responsible for conduction of electricity.
➡Solid NaCl hence cannot conduct electricity .
➡When water is added to NaCl , water breaks the dielectric constant of NaCl .
➡This results in the formation of free ions .
NaCl =======> Na⁺ + Cl⁻
➡These free ions are responsible for electric flow of current.
➡Hence solid NaCl cannot conduct however aqueous solution state of NaCl can conduct electricity.
