1.Solids have definite shape and definite volume because the molecules in solid are closely packed and in fixed positions. The molecules can vibrate but do not move around which keeps the shape and volume definite.

2.Examples of solids are common table salt, table sugar, water ice, frozen carbon dioxide (dry ice), glass, rock, most metals, and wood. When a solid is heated, the atoms or molecules gain kinetic energy

3. They have a fixed volume and a fixed shape. cannot flow, because their particles cannot move from place to place. cannot be compressed , because their particles are close together and have no space to move into.

4.Fixed volume is the property of liquid and solid. Which shows that the volume of both solid and liquid remain fixed under fixed temperature and pressure. Unlike gases, where the volume changes without applying any external force.
