Given:-

Equations:-

x + 2y = 3

2x + 2y = 4

To Find:-

The value of x and y

Method used:-

Substitution method

Solution:-

\sf{x+2y = 3 \longrightarrow [i]}

\sf{2x + 2y = 4 \longrightarrow [ii]}

From eq. [i]

\sf{x+2y=3}

\sf{\implies x = 3-2y}

Substituting the value of x in eq. [ii]

\sf{2x +2y=4}

= \sf{2(3-2y) + 2y = 4}

= \sf{6-4y+2y = 4}

= \sf{6-2y=4}

\sf{\implies -2y = 4-6}

\sf{\implies -2y = -2}

\sf{\implies y = \dfrac{-2}{-2}}

\sf{\implies y = 1}

Putting the value of y in eq.[i]

= \sf{x-2y = 3}

\sf{\implies x-2\times1=3}

\sf{\implies x-2=3}

\sf{\implies x = 3+2}

\sf{\implies x = 5}

Therefore,

The value of x is 5

The value of y is 1
