Method used:-

Substitution method

Solution:-

$\sf{x+2y = 3 \longrightarrow [i]}$

$\sf{2x + 2y = 4 \longrightarrow [ii]}$

From eq. [i]

$\sf{x+2y=3}$

$\sf{\implies x = 3-2y}$

Substituting the value of x in eq. [ii]

$\sf{2x +2y=4}$

= $\sf{2(3-2y) + 2y = 4}$

= $\sf{6-4y+2y = 4}$

= $\sf{6-2y=4}$

$\sf{\implies -2y = 4-6}$

$\sf{\implies -2y = -2}$

$\sf{\implies y = \dfrac{-2}{-2}}$

$\sf{\implies y = 1}$

Putting the value of y in eq.[i]

= $\sf{x-2y = 3}$

$\sf{\implies x-2\times1=3}$

$\sf{\implies x-2=3}$

$\sf{\implies x = 3+2}$

$\sf{\implies x = 5}$

Therefore,

The value of x is 5

The value of y is 1
