now we get here distance from A to E

and we apply here pythagorean theorem in triangle AEF

a^2+b^2=c^2 .....................1

here a is 4 km and b is 3 km and c is AE distance

so

4^2+3^2=AE^2

AE^2 = 14 + 9 = 25

AE = \sqrt{25}

AE = 5 km
