Given: A solution contains 5g each of water and NaCl

To find: Mole fraction of NaCl in solution

Explanation: For water, mass of water= 5 g

Molar mass of water= 18 g/mol

Therefore,moles of water= mass/ molar mass

= 5/18= 0.277

For NaCl, mass of NaCl= 5 g

Molar mass of NaCl= 58 g

Therefore, moles of NaCl= 5/58= 0.086

Total number of moles= 0.086+ 0.277

= 0.363

Mole fraction of NaCl= moles of NaCl/ total moles

= 0.086/ 0.363

= 0.235

Therefore, the mole fraction of NaCl is 0.235
