the largest cone is carved out from one face of solid cube of side 21cm.find the volume of the remaning solid

Given edge of the cube=21cm

radius of the cone=1/2*edge of cube

1/2*21 =10.5cm

height of the cone =edge of cube =21 cm

let r be the  radius of the cone and h be the height of the cone

we know that volume of cone is the largest right circular cone that can be cut out

volume of cone=1/3 π r^2h =1/3*22/7*10.5^2*21

=2425.5 cm ^3

volume of the cube =[ side ]^3 =21*21*21cm^3

=9261cm^3

volume of the remaning solid =volume of cube - volume of the cone

=9261cm^3 - 2425.5 cm ^3  =6835.5cm ^3 ANS
