(1) Given a tin can with a square base of each side 9cm and height 12cm.
Volume of a tin can = 9 * 9 * 12
= 972cm^3.
(2) Given a tin can with a circular base of radius 3.5cm and height 10cm.
Volume of a tin can = pir^2h
= 22/7 * (3.5)^2 * 10
= 385cm^3.
Therefore the volume of the tin can with a square base is greater by 587cm^3.
Hope this helps!
