Here is the answer you were looking for:
 -  \frac{1}{2} ( \frac{3}{7}  + ( -  \frac{4}{7} )) \\  \\  =  -  \frac{1}{2} ( \frac{3}{7}  -  \frac{4}{7} ) \\  \\  =  -  \frac{1}{2} ( \frac{3 - 4}{7})  \\  \\  =  -  \frac{1}{2} ( -  \frac{1}{7} ) \\  \\ =  -  \frac{1}{2}  \times  -  \frac{1}{7}  \\  \\  =  \frac{ - 1 \times  - 1}{2 \times 7}  \\  \\  =  \frac{1}{14}
