Answer:

,

Step-by-step explanation:

1/3x+y + 1/3x-y = 3/4 .............(1)

1/2(3x+y) - 1/ 2(3x-y) = -1/8 ......(2)

let a= 1/3x+y , b=1/3x-y

from equation (1)and (2) , we have

a + b = 3/4

4a + 4b =3 .........(3)

a/2 - b/2 = -1/8

4a - 4b = -1 .......(4)

from equation (3) & (4), we have

a= 1/4 & b = 1/2

1/4 = 1/ 3x+y

3x + y = 4 .....(5)

1/2 = 1/3x-y

3x - y = 2 .....(6)

from equation (5) & (6) , we have

x =1 & y = 1
