adding the two equations, we get,

2x = 16

x = 8

putting the value of x in the first equation,we get

8 + y = 14

y = 6

x + y = 14 \\ x + y - 14 = 0 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: (1)

x - y = 2 \\ x - y - 2 = 0 \:  \:  \:  \:  \: (2)

x + y - 14 = x - y - 2 \\ x - x + y + y =  - 2 + 14 \\ 2y = 12 \\ y =  \frac{12}{2}  \\ y = 6

x + y = 14 \\ x + 6 = 14 \\ x = 14 - 6 \\ x = 8

Thnx✌️♥️~
