Answer:

Solving we get,  x = -0.47   and x = 1.27 .

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given with the equation 10x^{2} - 8x - 6 = 0

Here we can't solve this equation using Middle-term splitting method as we can't split the middle term in two factors.

Here we will use quadratic D formula where ;

Roots of equation are given by ⇒ x = \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{D} }{2a}

In this equation; b = coefficient of x = -8

                           a = coefficient of x^{2}  = 10

                           D = b^{2} - 4ac { c = constant term in expression = -6 }

So, Firstly D = b^{2} - 4ac = (-8)^{2} - 4*10*(-6) = 304

                       ⇒   x  = \frac{-(-8) \pm \sqrt{304} }{2*10} = (\frac{8 - \sqrt{304} }{2*10}, \frac{8 + \sqrt{304} }{2*10}})

Solving this we get, x = -0.47   and x = 1.27 .
