Answer:

Arrange the question in a correct form .

x + 3y = 14 ... (1)

-3x + 2y = 20 ... (2)

Now , multiply equation (1) by 2 & equation (2) by 3

2x + 6y = 28 ... (3)

-9x + 6y = 60 ... (4)

From (3) & (4) we get ,

x = -32

11

Substitute x value for equation (1) .

x + 3y = 14

-32 + 3y = 14

11

3y = 14 + 32

11

3y = 154 + 32

11

3y = 186

11

y = 186

33

y = 62

11

Verification

x + 3y = 14

-32 + 3(62/11) = 14

11

-32/11 + 186/11 = 14

-32 + 186 = 14

11

154 = 14

11

14 = 14

LHS = RHS
