Answer:

14/x+3-1=5/x+1

14/x+2=5/x+1

14/x -5/x=1-(+2)

9/x=1-2

9/x=-1

9=-1x

x=9/-1

x=-9

Dear student,
 \frac{14}{x + 3}  - 1 =  \frac{5}{x  + 1}  \\  \frac{14 - 1(x + 3)}{x + 3}  =  \frac{5}{x + 1}  \\  \frac{14 - 3 - x}{x  + 3}  =  \frac{5}{x + 1}  \\  \frac{11 - x}{x + 3}  =  \frac{5}{x + 1}  \\( 11 - x)(x + 1) = 5(x + 3) \\ 11x -  {x}^{2}  - x + 11 = 5x + 15 \\ 10x -  {x }^{2}  + 11 = 5x + 15 \\ 10x - 5x -  {x}^{2}  + 11 - 15 = 0 \\  5x -  {x}^{2}  - 4 = 0 \\ {x}^{2}  - 5x  + 4 = 0 \\  {x}^{2}  - x - 4x + 4 = 0 \\ x(x - 1) - 4(x - 1) = 0 \\ (x - 4)(x - 1) = 0 \\ x - 4 = 0 \: or \: x - 1 = 0 \\ x = 4 \: or \: x = 1
Hope it helps you.
