Sometimes equation are not linear but they can be reduced to a pair of linear equation by making some suitable substitutions
If the given equation involves 1/(x+y) , 1/(x-y) , then put 1/(x+y) = u & 1/(x-y) = v to convert them into linear form.After solving put the values of p and q in above substitutions to get linear equation in x and y. Now solve these equations to get the values of x and y.
