Step-by-step explanation:

 \frac{2}{3}  - y =  \frac{ - 1}{3}  + 5y \\  \\  \frac{2}{3}  +  \frac{1}{3}  = 5y + y \\  \frac{3}{3}  = 6y \\ 1 = 6y \\ y =  \frac{1}{6}

PUTTING THE VALUE IN QUESTION

LHS :-

 \frac{2}{3}  - y =  \frac{2}{3}  -  \frac{1}{6}  =  \frac{4 - 1}{6}  =  \frac{3}{6}  =  \frac{1}{2}

RHS:-

 \frac{ - 1}{3}  + 5y =  \frac{ - 1}{3}  + 5( \frac{1}{6} ) =  \frac{ - 1}{3}  +  \frac{5}{6}  =  \frac{ - 2 + 5}{6} =   \frac{3}{6}  =  \frac{1}{2}  \\  \\

LHS = RHS
