Initial momentum = Final momentum
0 = P1 + P2 + P3
P3 = -(P1 + P2)
mv = -sqrt(P1^2 + P2^2) >>>>[Since P1 and P2 are perpendicular to each other]
m*(-40) = -sqrt[ (1*12)^2 + (2*8)^2 ]
40m = sqrt(400)
40m = 20
m = 0.5kg
Total mass of shell = 1kg + 2kg + 0.5kg = 3.5kg
