                                                        ANSWER

Given:  2b - 14 = 18

By transposing 14 from L.H.S. to R.H.S, we get,

2b = 18 + 14  (This is because when a number moves from L.H.S. to R.H.S, its sign of operation changes.)

So,

2b = 32

b = 32/2

b = 16
