a).For A to B,
Average speed, v av= Total distance/ total time
AB = 300mt = 2 min 30sec = 150svav= 300/150 = 2m/s.
Since, total displacement = total distance
So average velocity = total displacement/ total time = 2m/s.

b).For A to C, AC(distance) = AB +BC= 300+100 = 400m time taken
= 2min 30s + 1min
= 3 min 30s
= 210 s Average speed,
v av= Total distance/ total time = 400/210 = 1.90 m/s.
AC(displacement) = AB -BC
= 300-100
= 200m
So average velocity = total displacement/ total time = 200/210
= 0.95 m/s.

Ruhanika105: The distance Abdul commutes while driving from Home to School = S. Let us assume time taken by Abdul to commutes this distance = t1 Distance Abdul commutes while driving from School to Home = S Let us assume time taken by Abdul to commutes this distance = t2
Ruhanika105: avg speed frm home to school v1 av
Ruhanika105: =20 km/hr
Ruhanika105: and avg speed from school to home, v2 av = 30 km/hr
Ruhanika105: time taken frm home to school,t1= S/v1 av
Ruhanika105: time taken frm school to home,t2 = S / v2 av
Ruhanika105: total distance frm home to school and backwards= 2S
Ruhanika105: total time taken from home to school and backward(T) = S/20 + S/30
Ruhanika105: Therefore, Average speed (Vav) for covering total distance (2S) = Total Dostance/Total Time. = 2S / (S/20 +S/30). = 2S / [(30S+20S)/600]. = 1200S / 50S. = 24 kmh-1
