Explanation:

2x + 3y = 11

2x - 4y = - 24

- +. +

___________

7y = 35

Therefore y = 5

Put this value of y in second equation

2x - 4(5) = - 24

= 2x - 20 = - 24

= 2x = - 4

Therefore x = -2

Put this value of x in first equation

2(-2) + 3y = 11

-4 + 3y = 11

= 3y = 15

Therefore y = 5

Now y = mx + 3

Put the values of x and y in this equation

5 = -2m + 3

= -2m + 3 = 5

= - 2m = 2

Therefore m = -1
