from equation ---2 ,we get

y=x-1 ----- 3

substituting y in equation ---1

2x -3(x-1)=0

2x-3x+3 =0

-1x = -3

x = -3/-1

x = 3

substituting x in equation ----2

x+y=1

3+y=1

y=1-3

y= -2

to verify the answer it is given that x+y =1

3+ (-2)= 1
