Find - Variable X.

Solution - Solving the expression to find the value of X.

In the expression 2x + 4 < 18, taking 4 to the right hand side.

Now, 2x < 18 - 4

On solving we get, 2x < 14

Dividing the resultant expression by 2.

X < 7.

Thus, X can be any natural number ranging between 1 to 6.

Natural numbers are the numbers starting from 1 and continue till infinity.

EVALUATION

Here the given inequality is

 \sf{2x + 4 &lt; 18}

We now solve for x

 \sf{2x + 4 &lt; 18}

 \sf{ \implies \: 2x  &lt; 18 - 4}

 \sf{ \implies \: 2x  &lt; 14}

 \sf{ \implies \: x  &lt; 7}

Since x is a natural number

∴ x = 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6

Hence the required solution set is

 \sf{S =  \{ \:  1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 \:  \}}
