Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let 2x + y = 11 -------eq ( 1 ) and

x +y = 8 ----------eq ( 2 )

Subtracting eq ( 1 ) - eq ( 2 ), we get

2x + y - ( x + y ) = 11 - 8

⇒ 2x + y - x - y = 3

⇒ x = 3

Now substituting x = 3 in the eq ( 1 ),we get

2 ( 3 ) + y = 11

6 + y = 11

y = 11 - 6 = 5

∴ x = 3 and y = 5 is the answer.

Given: The equations are2x + y = 11\ and\ x + y = 8.

We have to find the value ofx\ and\ y.

We are solving in the following way:

We have,

The equations are2x + y = 11\ and\ x + y = 8.

Let assume;

2x + y = 11\ \ ...1)\\ x + y = 8\ \ ...2)

Subtracting Eq. 2) from Eq.1) we get,

=>2x-x+y-y=11-8\\=>x=3

Putting this value of xin the eq. 2) we get,

=>x+y=8\\=>3+y=8\\=>y=8-3\\=>y=5

Hence, the value of x\ is\ 3and the value ofy\ is\ 5.
