Answer :-

we have,

  • 2x + y = 3 .......(i)
  • 3x - y = 7 ........(ii)

on adding eq.(i) and (ii)

 \bold{: \implies 2x + \cancel{y} + 3x - \cancel{y} = 3 + 7 } \\ \\ \bold{: \implies 5x = 10 } \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \bold{: \implies x = \cancel\frac{10}{5} } \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \bold{: \implies x = 2} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \:

now, put the value of x in (i)

 \bold{: \implies 2(2) + y = 3} \\ \\ \bold{: \implies 4 + y = 3} \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \bold{: \implies y = 3 - 4} \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \bold{: \implies y = - 1 } \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \:

so, value of x is 2 and value of y is -1
