BY SUBSTITUTION METHOD:

2x-y=5.......(1)

x+y=4.........(2)

From eq(2):

x=4-y......goes to....eq(1)

2(4-y)-y=5

8-2y-y=5

8-3y=5

8-5=3y

3y=3

y=3/3

y=1..goes to eq(2)

x+1=4

x=4-1

x=3

Therefore,x=3 and y=1.......
