 \frac{2y}{3}  + 1 =  \frac{7}{3}

 \frac{2y}{3}  +  \frac{3}{3} =  \frac{7}{3}

 \frac{2y + 3}{3}  =  \frac{7}{3}

3( \frac{2y + 3}{3}  )=3 \times   \frac{7}{3}

2y + 3=3 \times   \frac{7}{3}

2y + 3=7

2y + 3 - 3=7 - 3

2y = 4

 \frac{2y}{2}  =  \frac{4}{2}

y = 2
