\textbf{Solution :}

Given that,

3 (x - 1) = 2x - 11 ...(i)

⇒ 3x - 3 = 2x - 11

⇒ 3x - 2x = - 11 + 3

⇒ x = - 8

So, the value of x is (- 8)

\textbf{Checking :}

When x = - 8, from L.H.S. of (i), we get

3 (- 8 - 1)

= 3 (- 9)

= - 27

Again, putting the same value of x in R.H.S. of (i), we get

2 (- 8) - 11

= - 16 - 11

= - 27

Thus, verified.
