138x+312=173

add both equations

450x+450y=375

divide both sides by 75

6x+6y=5--------- 1

Now, subtract both equations

174x-174y=29

Divide both sides by 29

6x-6y=1----------- 2

Add 1 and 2

6x+6y+6x-6y=1+5

12x=6

x=1/2

By substituting x in 2

6*1/2 - 6y = 1

3-6y=1

3-1=6y=2

y=1/3

Thus,x=1/2 and y=1/3
