3x-1y=3...(1)

4x-8y=64...(2)

Multiply equ (1) by 8

24x-8y=24...(3)

Subtract equ (2) from equ (3)

20x= -40

x= -2

Put x in equ (1)

3(-2)-y=3

-6-y=3

-y=9

y= -9

Hope this helps you

(eq1)

3x - y = 3

(eq2)

4x - 8y = 64

Multiplying the first eq. with 8;

(eq3)

24x - 8y = 24

Subtracting eq2 and eq3;

*picture*

x =  -  \frac{40}{20}

x = 2

x=2

Substituting x=2 in eq1,

3x - y = 3

3(2) - y = 3

y = 6 - 3

y = 3

y=3
