let 3x+5y=4.......eqn.--1

and x+5y=5.......-eqn.--2

on subtracting eqn.--1 from eqn,,--2

We get,

x+5y=5

3x+5y=4

- - -

________

-2x=1

x=-1/2

now,

putting the value of x in eqn.--1

we have,

3×-1/2+5y=4

-3/2+5y=4

5y=4+3/2

5y=11/2

y=11/2×5

y=11/10

y=1.1
