(2x)^2-2(x)(17/2)=-4

adding both sides (17/2)^2

(2x)^2-2(x)(17/2)++(17/2)^2=(17/2)^2-4

(2x)^2-2(x)(17/2)+(17/2)^2=289/4-4

(2x-17/2)^2=(289-16)/4

(2x-17/2)^2=273/4

taking under root both sides

2x-17/2=√273/2

2x=(+)(-)(√273+17)/2

x=(+)(-)(√273+17)
