To solve :  5^{2}\div 5^{2} according to law of indices

Solution :

Law of indices is also called as is Law of exponents . Some of the rules of law of exponents are given below :

  1. The product property of exponents
  2. The quotient property of exponents,
  3. The zero property of exponents,
  4. The negative property of exponents.
  • To solve the above question we use the quotient property of exponents : This property is used to divide two expressions with the same bases while their exponents subtract keeping the base same as it is.
  • Therefore , according to rule we can write 5^{2}\div 5^{2} as -

                   \frac{5^{2} }{5^{2} } = 5^{2 - 2}

                      = 5^{0}

  • Now , as we can see on subtracting exponents we get exponent as 0
  • so here we use the zero property of exponents - it states that any number  raised to the power 0  is always 1.
  • Therefore , 5^{0} = 1

Hence 5^{2}\div 5^{2}  is equal to 1.
