Hi ,

( 5x + 1 )/3 + 1 = ( x - 5 ) /6

( 5x + 1 + 3 ) / 3 = ( x - 5 )/6

5x + 4 = ( 3 /6 ) ( x - 5 )

5x + 4 = ( 1/2)( x - 5 )

2 ( 5x + 4 ) = x - 5

10x + 8 = x - 5

10x - x = -8 - 5

9x = -13

x = -13 /9

I hope this helps you.

:)

or

(5x+1)/3 - (x-5 )/6 = -1

[2(5x+1)-(x-5)]/6= -1

10x+2 -x+5 = -6

9x +7 = -6

9x = -6-7

9x= -13

x = -13/9

verification :

put x = -13/9

LHS = ( 5x+1 )/3 + 1

= [ 5× (-13/9)+1]/3+1

= ( -65 /9 +1 )/3 + 1

= ( -65 + 9 )/(9×3 ) + 1

= -56 /27 +1

= ( -56 + 27 )/27

= -29/27

RHS = ( x - 5 )/6

= [ ( -13/9 ) - 5 ] /6

= ( -13 - 45 ) / ( 9× 6)

= - 58 / 54

= - 29/27

Therefore ,

LHS = RHS
