y = 24 sin x + 7 cos x

On differentiating, we get

dy/dx = 24 cos x - 7 sin x = 0

=> 7 sin x = 24 cos x

=> sin x / cos x = 24/7

=> tan x = 24/7

Then,

sin x = √(24/(24^2+7*2))

        = 24/25

and cos = 7/25.

Thus, the max value is :

y = 24*24/25 + 7*7/25

= (576+49)/25

= 625/25

= 25

And,

sinx = -24/25, cos x = -7/25

Thus, the min value is :

y = -7 * (7/25) - 24 * (24/25)

 

 = -625/25

 = -25

Therefore,

Maximum value = 25

Minimum value = -25
