Answer:

GIVEN - 7 x - 4y=9

3x + 2y = -1

To FIND -

Value of X and Y

SOLUTION -

7x - 4y = 9 --------(1)

3x + 2y = (-1) --------(2)

Solving by Substitution method

3x = (-1) - 2y -------(3)

putting value of X in eq. 1

7( -1) -2y - 4y = 9

-7 -6y = 9

-6y = 9 +7

-6y = 16

y= 16/(-6)

y= (-8/3 )

Substitute the value of y in eq. 3

3x = (-1) - 2(-8/3)

3x = (-1) +16/3

3x* 3 = 16 - 1

9x = 15

x = 15/9

x= 5/3

Value of X = 5/3 and y = (-8/3)
