HERE'S UR SOLUTION

sol. 7(y-2)-4(5+y)=10
=7y-14-20-4y=10
=7y-4y=10+14+20
=3y=44
=y=44/3 ANS....
_______________
HOPE THIS HELPS

sahana35: how can we verify
Aman1245: put the value of y and if L.HS=R.HS then its correct
sahana35: oh yep thank you

⇒ 7( y - 2 ) - 4 ( 5 + y ) = 10

⇒ 7y - 14 - 20 - 4y = 10

⇒ 3y - 34 =10

⇒ 3y = 44

⇒ y = 44 /3.

Verification : 7 { ( 44/3) - 2 } - 4 { 5 + (44/3) }

                      7( 44 - 6 )            4 ( 15 + 44 )
                 = ----------------  -     ---------------------
                         3                             3

                     7 ( 38 ) - 4 ( 59 )
               =  ----------------------------------
                              3

                     266 - 236
              = --------------------------
                            3

              = 30/3 = 10 verified.

So, y = 44/3.
