➣ Solution

☞ Multiply 7 with 2nd equation and 5 with 1st equation so that x and x cancel and we get the value of y

☞ By elimination method

35x + 25y = 120

35x + 49y = 252

⟹ y. = $\dfrac{33}{6}$

☞ put y in equation 1

⟹ 7x + 5 * $\dfrac{33}{6}$ = 24

⟹ 7x + $\dfrac{165}{6}$ =24

⟹ $\dfrac{42x + 165}{6}$ = 24

⟹ 42x + 165 = 144

⟹ 42x = -21

⟹ x = -$\dfrac{1}{2}$
