Answer:

8x + 3y = 2...eq.(1)

3x - y = 2...eq.(2)

In equation (2) it is easy to express in terms of x

3x - y = 2

or, 3x - 2 = y

Substituting y = 3x - 2 in equation (1)

8x + 3y = 2

8x + 3(3x - 2) = 2

8x + 9x - 6 = 2

17x - 6 = 2

17x = 2 + 6

x = 8/17

Now substituting the value of x in the equation y = 3x - 2

y = 3x - 2

y = 3(8/17) - 2

y = 24/17 - 2

y = 1.411 - 2

y = 0.588

Now x = 1 and y = 0.588 are the solution of the given equation.
