8x+5y=9
=>24x+15y=27 (multiplying by 3) - eq 1

3x+2y=4
=>24x+16y=32 (multiplying by 8) - eq 2

SUBTRACTING eq 1 from eq 2..
24x+16y-24x-15y=32-27
=> y=5
So,
3x+2(5)=4
3x=(-6)
x=(-2)

8x + 5y = 9  -------- 1
3x + 2y = 4 ------- 2
3x= 4-2y
x=(4-2y)/ 3    ----------- 3
now, substitute eq.3 in eq.1
[8(4-2y)/3] + 5y = 9
(32-16y)/3 +5y=9
(32-16y+15y)/3=9
(32-y)/3=9
32-y=9*3
-y=27-32
-y=-5
y=5
now, substitude y=5 in eq.2
3x+ 2(5)= 4
3x+10=4
3x=4-10
x=-6/3
x=-2

therefore, x=-2
y=5
