8x + y = 15 ____ eq.(i)

2x + y = 5 ____ eq.(ii)

By subracting eq. (ii) from eq. (i), we get

6x = 10

or, x = 10/6 = 5/3 ____ eq. (iii)

By substituting eq.(iii) in eq. (i), we get

8(5/3) + y = 15

or, 40/3 + y = 15

or, y = 15 - 40/3

or, y = 5/3

Answer:

The value of x and y is 5/3 and 5/3 respectively.

Answer:

x=5/3 , y=5/3

Step-by-step explanation:

8x+y=15     (1)

2x+y=5      (2)

subtract 2 from 1

6x=10 => x=5/3

put x in (2)

y=  5-2x= 5- (2x 5/3)

 =5/3

y =5/3
