manushukla: is the answer is a=-7 & b= -12
manushukla: first divide 2x^3+3x^2+ax+b byx-2 and then by x+2
manushukla: 1st reminder is equal to 2 and 2nd is -2
luckygirl: thank you
manushukla: in first reminder eq putx=2and in 2nd x=-2
manushukla: then we get eq 3 and 4 contains a & b
manushukla: then solve
luckygirl: thank you

Given,

p(x):-2x³+ 3x² +ax +b.
Since the following polynomial is devided by x-2 leaves remainder 2,
So putting x= 2 in following polynomial
Remainder= 2(2)³ + 3(2²) +a*2 +b
2= 2*8 + 3*4 + 2a +b
2= 16 +12 +2a+b
2 = 28 +2a+ b
2a+b= -26.......................(I).
Again'
,
Since the following polynomial is devided by x+2 leaves remainder -2,

,
So putting x= -2 in following polynomial
Remainder= 2(-2)³ + 3(-2²) +a*(-2) +b

-2= 2*(-8) + 3*4 -2a +b
-2 = -16 + 12 -2a +b
-2 = -4 -2a +b
2 = -2a +b
-2a+ b = -2................(ii)
adding both equations we get,
2b= -28
b= -14
putting b= -14 in equation (ii)
-2a - 14 = -2
-2a = 12
a= -6.....
Hope it helped you!!
