The value of x and y is x=20 and y=40.

Given:

9x - 4y = 20

7x - 3y = 20

To Find:

To solve 9x - 4y = 20 and 7x - 3y = 20 by elimination method.

Solution:

Let's assume, 9x-4y=20 as equation (i)

and 7x-3y=20 as equation (ii)

now, multiply eq.(i) by 3

(9x\times 4y=20)\times 3

we get, 27x\times 12y=60 as equation (iii)

now, multiply eq.(ii) by 4

(7x-3y=20)\times 4

we get, 28x-12y=80 as equation (iv)

now, after subtracting the equation (iv) and (iii)

28x-12y=80\\27x-12y=60

we will get the value of x=20

now, put the value x in equation (i)

9x-4y=20\\9\times 20-4y=20\\180-4y=20\\4y=180-20\\y=40

here we get, the value of y=40 and x=20.

Thus, the value of x and y is x=20, y=40.
