Answer:

Given , Sum of two rational numbers = -3/7

One if the number = -5/8

Find another number .

Therefore , -3/7 -(-5/8) gives us the value of the another number

>> -3/7 + 5/8

>> By taking LCM

>> -24 + 35 / 56

>> 11/56

Let the other number be x

A.T.Q.

 \sf \:  \frac{ - 5}{8}  + x =  \frac{ - 3}{7}

 \sf \: x =  \frac{ - 3}{7}  +  \frac{5}{8}

Take L.C.M. to make the denominators same.

L.C.M. of 7 and 8=2×2×2×7=56

 \large \sf \frac{ - 3}{7}  \times  \frac{8}{8}  =  \frac{ - 24}{56}

  \large\sf \frac{5}{8}  \times  \frac{7}{7}  =  \frac{35}{56}

___________________

 \sf \: x =  \frac{ - 24+ 35}{56}  =  \frac{11}{56}

 \sf \: So \:  \frac{11}{56}  \: should \: be \: added \: to \:  \frac{ - 5}{8} \: to \: get \:  \frac{  - 3}{7}

Hope it helps you.....
