Yes its the same.

algebrically (a-b)^2= a2+b2+2ab

(b-a)^2 = a2+b2+2ab.

But is that enough?? It doesnt end there. It has to be seen geometrically. How do we solve for |a-b| = x ??

We know |a-b| is always positive, and one way to go about it is to solve is squaring both the sides to get rid of modulus and we get (a-b)^2.

We started of by calculating for |a-b| and whats |a-b| geometrically??

Its the distance between the points and and b.

So its going to be same ie.., distance from a to b is same as distance from b to a and this is one reason why (a-b)^2= (b-a)^2
