when we add [1] and [2]

we get

=>106x - 106y = 424 

now let us divide all 3 numbers by 106

=> x - y = 4 .................[3]

now on  subtracting   [1] and [2]

we get 

=> -8x - 8y = -80

now let us divide 8 to all 3 no.

=> x + y = 10 ...............[4]

now, since 

x - y =  4

x +y = 10

let us add them both

=>2x = 14

=>x = 14/2

=>x = 7

since x - y =  4

=>7 - y = 4

=> y = 7-4

=>y = 3

so x = 7 & y = 3
