Answer:

x = 13

Step-by-step explanation:

(4x-8) + (2x-6) = 5x-1

6x - 14 = 5x - 5

x = 9

check:

put the value of x in the above equation

LHS RHS

4(x-2)+2(x-3)=5(x-1)

4(9-2)+2(9-3)=5(9-1)

4*7 + 2*6 = 5*8

28 + 12 = 40

40=40

Therefore LHS = RHS

Solution :-

➵ 4(x -2) + 2(x - 3) = 5(x - 1)

➵ 4x - 8 + 2x - 6 = 5x - 5

➵ 6x - 14 = 5x - 5

➵ 6x - 5x = -5 + 14

➵ x = 9

CHECK :-

➵ 4(x - 2) + 2(x - 3) = 5(x -1)

➵ 4(9 - 2) + 2(9 - 3) = 5(9 - 1)

➵ 4(7) + 2(6) = 5(8)

➵ 28 + 12 = 40

➵ 40 = 40

Hence, LHS = RHS.
