Solve and check your answer.
(ii) 6x + 3 = 2x +12 (i) 3(x + 6) = 21
(iii) 4(3x - 3) -2(3x - 5) = 7
(iv) 9x - 2(x + 5) = 5(x + 6)

i) 3(x + 6) = 21

3x + 18 = 21

3x = 3

x =  \frac{3}{3}  = 1

l.h.s = 3(1 + 6) = 3 \times 7 = 21

Hence,

21 = 21

LHS = RHS

ii)  6x + 3 = 2x + 12

6x - 2x = 12 - 3

4x = 9

x =  \frac{9}{4}

By applying the values of x in question

6x + 3 = 6 \times  \frac{9}{4}  + 3

 =  \frac{27}{2}  + 3 =  \frac{27 + 6}{2}  =  \frac{33}{2}

 = 16.2 = lhs

 =  > 2x + 12 = 2 \times  \frac{9}{4}  + 12

 =  \frac{9 + 24}{2}  =  \frac{33}{2}

 = 16.5

Hence,

LHS = RHS
