Answer:

i) -1 , ii) 12

Step-by-step explanation:

i)  Solve:

   4(1-3x)-2(x-4) = 2(-8x+5)

   4 -12x -2x +8 = -16x +10

   -12x -2x +16x = 10 -4 -8

                    2x = -2

                      x = -2/2

                         = -1

Verification: (substitute x= -1)

  4(1-3x)-2(x-4) = 2(-8x+5)

4(1-3*-1)-2(-1-4) = 2(-8*-1+5)

    4(1+3) -2(-5) = 2(8+5)

           4*4 +10 = 2*13

              16+10 = 26

                    26=26

ii) Solve:

  x-(4-x) = 3(x-4)-4

  x -4 +x = 3x -12 -4

     2x -4 = 3x -16

   2x -3x = -16 +4

          -x = -12

           x = -12/-1

                 12

Verification: (substitute x = 12)

  x-(4-x) = 3(x-4)-4

12-(4-12) = 3(12-4)-4

 12 -(-8) = 3(8)-4

   12 +8 = 24-4

       20 = 20
