b² + 9b –400 =0

by the methods of spilliting the middle term we have

b² +25b –16b –400

taking common we have

b(b+25) –16(b + 25)

by taking common (b+25)

(b+25). (b–16)

is the answer

explaination

now we have to divide the middle term into two parts so that the sum of both is equals to 9b end product of both is equals –400
