Answer:

according to question

2x+3y=18

3x+2y=17

we multiply the equation with 3 and 2 so that the equation can be cancelled

2x+3y=18.......*2

3x+2y=17........*3

therfore you get

4x+6y=36

9x+6y=51

change the signs and subtract

4x+6y=36

9x+6y=51

-     -       -

----------------

=-5x=-20

= x=4

now substitute x=4 in equation

2x+3y=18

2(4)+3y=18

8+3y=18

3y=18-3

3y=15

= y=5
