Answer:

Soln:

Given,

0.6x - 0.4y =0........(i)

0.5x +0=8y = 3.4........(ii)

now;

1) {0.6x - 0.4y =0}×0.5

{0.5x +0=8y = 3.4}×0.6

2) 0.6x×0.5 - 0.4y×0.5=0×0.5

0.5x×0.6 +0.8y×0.6= 3.4×0.6

3) 0.3x-0.2y=0

-0.3x+0.48y= -2.04

4) 0.28y= -2.04

or, y= -2.04/0.28

: y= -7.28....................(iii)

5) now, putting value of y in eq(i),we get;

0.6x-0.4×(-7.28)=0

or, 0.6x+2.91=0

or, 0.6x= -2.91

or, x= -2.91/0.6

: x= -4.85

hence, (x,y)=(-4.85,-7.28)
